iPad does not require macOS

I don't know when, but the saying that "iPad will be unproductive without getting rid of iPadOS" has gradually become mainstream. Even several Android tablets took the lead in using Linux containers to make their tablets "get rid of the shackles of the tablet system", but the experience is not particularly good (save file dialog box, conflict between UI layout and special-shaped screen, etc.). Although I personally hate that Internet companies deliberately restrict the functions of web pages to promote mobile software, it is undeniable that mobile apps have developed their own ecosystem on many occasions, such as FlipaClip, Shapr3D, CapCut and Polarr, etc. Although there are many functional shortcomings compared with the desktop apps they replace, in many cases they can do the job in a simpler way. In fact, the tablet has developed into a platform independent of the computer. At that time, the slogan "Your next computer, why a computer" did not mean that the iPad could replace the laptop, but that the person referred to in the text didn't necessarily need a "computer" in the traditional sense. Of course, there are a lot of bugs in iPadOS now (for example, the file App is stuck), but this is not a reason to give up iPadOS. ~ ~ And if the desktop platform is limited to Mac, then iPadOS actually has a game ecosystem that is far superior to macOS (although the types of games are different from PC) 🤣. ~ ~

@ Anonymous3975 Don't speak by your feelings. The iPad Pro 13-inch has a battery of about 40WH, and the MacBook Air 13.6-inch has a battery of 52.6 WH. The screen energy consumption has nothing to do with whether you can run multitasking. The battery life of the previous generation exploded largely due to miniLED. The pot has little to do with SOC load, and the light-load battery life also explodes

When Apple launched 3A games, the entire ipad tablet camp had been divided into ipad m1/m2/m4 series and non-m series. Games are the driving force for the entire hardware update. This was true for intelligence/nv chips in the past, and the same will be true for apple m series in the future. It's not a so-called productivity tool for a few people at all.

The biggest problem with iPad is that its performance is very powerful, but there are really few games and applications/functions that can use such powerful accessories for advance

Many people really don't know that iPad shoving macOS is the real version of Surface. * * The market has always been pragmatic, honest and fair. ** If the Surface class is successful, any computer city or JD.com in the world will be full of touch screens on notebooks, such as Lenovo, HP, Huawei, Dell, ASUS, Xiaomi and so on. Although a small number of models have tentatively installed touch screens, they have not always been promoted or sold well. Everyone wants to plug iPadOS into macOS, do they think too much? I see someone poking any UI suitable for delicate mouse operation with their fingers, and I will find it funny. I dare to say that if the Mac series is stuffed with the touch screen, or the iPad is stuffed with macOS, more people will complain about it. I don't spit now just because I don't have better realistic convincing power, and I don't want to waste my time here. It's pointless to argue over a hypothetical question, it's like scolding the air.

@ Anonymous3321 If you play 3a, I think it's more reasonable to use hard disk capacity points. A game is too big for ipad. On the contrary, the chip performance gap between m1 and m4 is no more than 2 times. It can run games, but it cannot run even if the capacity is not enough

@ Anonymous11545 Is it possible that it is possible to switch to a system similar to the desktop side after connecting the keyboard and mouse? Is this logic shortly after the current stage manager external screen? And now the hardware of ipad pro is exactly the same as that of macbook. I don't think it is difficult to do this, but it can greatly increase the value of magic keyboard.

If it was Xiaomi, would it directly do both and be able to switch?

Professional tools do professional things, and the same is true for systems. At present, iPad is still developing steadily, and I hope Guozi can continue to carry out this kind of suitable interactive development instead of mechanically applying dual systems. After all, the ending of Windows + Android dual-system tablets is not very good. However, it remains to be seen after adding ARM chip support.

@ Anonymous46 As a former Magic Keyboard user, this keyboard has a very good feel and performance in manuscripts/forms/operation and maintenance/remote code editing. It is more convenient and cheaper than buying a notebook alone (especially Mac), but its limitations are indeed limited by iPadOS (which is probably Apple's goal). Therefore, when you meet the user needs of this product, you can save some money on buying notebooks. The only drawback is probably the price. The price of this thing is so high that the above argument may not hold true for cheap notebooks (but it is indeed more convenient not to bring two devices). As for the weight, if you regard this thing as an enhancement from tablet to notebook, the weight can also be interpreted as reasonable, and its form is indeed more versatile than the rear stand.

(As for why a former Magic Keyboard user, because I bought a Mac...)

@ Anonymous10129 As a stakeholder, Apple not only hopes that the iPad product line will have a certain productivity performance to stabilize its moat, but also does not want the iPad's productivity to be too strong and affect the development of the Mac product line. In addition, the user experience problems discussed above are not easily solvable. So this is a multi-faceted problem. To be clear: productivity is not equal to manuscript or video cutting, but it is not absolutely equal to running plane or circuit design/3D modeling/graphics rendering, etc. The actual use of users determines what is productivity for them. Therefore, the productivity that Apple refers to here is not wrong, but it is only a one-sided statement. However, if so, isn't Mac's poor compatibility a kind of "one-sided" productivity?

The 11-inch tablet, even with the magic keyboard touchpad, is pitifully small. If you use desktop-level WPS, it's like embroidering. It's slightly better to use mobile WPS, but it's also very uncomfortable. (So I personally always think that desktop WPS on tablets is a gimmick). If you connect the mouse, it's not good to have such a big desktop and use a notebook? 13-inch is not as good as a notebook anyway. At present, I personally think that the 11-inch + double-sided keyboard clip (the thinner one)/Logitech split keyboard clip is barely useful with mobile WPS/iwork. Other peripherals/software are gilding the lily/unavailable.

@ Anonymous12861 is not difficult, but don't forget that the code is still interoperable. It is also feasible to move a set of codes on macOS directly to iPadOS, and then directly change the UI to use it. However, moving the management UI operated by the macOS window mouse to iPadOS will only be a disaster. Besides, I originally needed to eat 32G of memory on macOS, but how can I eat 16G on iPad? Not to mention the regular 8G. Therefore, moving to iPadOS also needs to be best optimized and suitable for low memory operation.
