Is it necessary to install a paper-like film to learn to draw with iPad Pro?

The Apple Pencil2, which costs more than 800 yuan, has never been used on the iPad since I bought it. It's almost out of warranty. I want to learn to draw recently, and it's just ready to use it. After checking the information, someone recommended sticker paper film, but it will seriously affect my experience of watching movies. I found a full-time painter (50,000 followers on Twitter) who is familiar with me, and said that he usually only uses iPad to draw drafts, so he doesn't need paper-like film. Moreover, because of the thickness of the film, the paper-like film will cause the pen to fall. It needs to be used to a little offset (I haven't found anyone else on the Internet to say this reason), so I can't give too much advice. He said that one of the reasons why he doesn't use an iPad to paint is that except Clip Studio, most of the painting software on the iPad, such as Procreate, has a full canvas size for each layer. Even if the iPad has 16GB memory, it is only enough to open 40 ~ 50 layers. One of his pictures often has one or two thousand layers, which need to be merged very frequently on the iPad, which is very inconvenient to use. Clip Studio supports memory compression, but if there are too many layers, the operation will be obviously delayed and crashed. He sent me a PSD of his recent work, with more than 900 layers. I tested and it was true that only one software, Clip Studio, could open it. It took 3 minutes to load (iPad Pro M2 1TB version)
I heard that there is a magnetic paper-like film that can be easily disassembled, but after checking it, it seems that the evaluation is not very good. Some people say that this kind of film can't absorb firmly and will shake when painting. The same is true for very expensive ones, so it is not recommended to use it.

Anonymous11346 May 19, 2024You've just started learning. Have you ever thought that the experience of a full-time painter doesn't apply? At this stage, you can use procreate to draw some basic illustrations, and it will take you a long time to be familiar with colors, structures and brushwork. When you really improve in the future and have higher needs, it will not be too late for you to switch to Intuos and connect to the computer. As for the paper-like film, I don't think it's useless. I will zoom in on the details. There is no need for the damping of the paper-like film, and it damages the pen tip

Anonymous373 May 20, 2024I don't worry about this problem. I suggest not learning it directly. 99.9% of people have no talent, and the things they draw are not as good as the lower limit of AI Now as long as you wait for the AI iteration, learn English well, various alchemy words, and wait for the AI iteration, you can lie down and improve your level

Poster May 20, 2024The 16g memory of the iPad is not enough for retouching photos, and the memory for painting cannot be used. It's not as cheaper as a tablet with a large memory machine.

Anonymous8944 May 20, 2024Buy a sketchbook for 10 yuan Buy a pencil or charcoal for 1 ~ 2 yuan Buy an eraser for 2 yuan Getting started only needs the above. After practicing structural sketching and light and dark sketching, then consider it...

Anonymous11005 May 20, 2024As mentioned above, if you have never studied art at all, you should buy paper and pen and practice first. You have never seen anyone learn to draw directly with an iPad as soon as you start, even if you buy a Wacom board first. Better than iPad

Anonymous1709 May 20, 2024Answer your paper film question first: 1. How much did you buy your paintbrush? Because the problem of paper-like film is that it increases the friction feeling and is closer to the paper feeling, but at the same time it will wear out the pen tip. This is not a matter of probability. Basically, Apple's second-generation pen will be damaged after one year of use. Even if it is not damaged, you will see the exposed iron core scratching around on the paper-like film with naked eyes, and your psychology will collapse. (Apple comes with 2 pen tips) 2. Is paper-like film useful? It does work. If you don't stick it, it feels like you're scratching your nails across glass. It's really comfortable and powerful after posting it. Finally, to sum up, paper-like film is not expensive, you can just put it on and try it, but you have to consider the problem of wearing the nib.

Anonymous12463 May 20, 2024For painting, it is really not recommended to stick paper film, it is not silky. If you often eat notes written by GD, it is necessary to stick a paper film. Remember not to choose magnetic suction!!! Another point, no matter how high-definition the page promotes and how it doesn't affect the look and feel, don't believe it. No matter what model you buy, no matter how expensive it is, it will affect the look and feel by default. This is inevitable that you can't have your cake and eat it both ways
