On Thursday, August 8, according to Mark Gurman, a technology reporter from well-known financial media, citing people familiar with the matter, the Mac Mini consumer desktop will undergo a thorough design transformation, not only equipped with the latest Apple when it is released this fall. The self-developed M4 and M4 Pro chips will also become the smallest computer in Apple's history.
It will also be the first major design change for the Mac Mini desktop since 2010, that is, since the Jobs era. The device will purportedly be much smaller in appearance than its predecessor, closer to the size of an Apple TV set-top box, and has been dubbed "essentially an iPad Pro in a small box" by the staff involved in its development. While the existing appearance has existed for at least fifteen years.
According to some analysts, the new Mac Mini will not only be the smallest model of Apple Mac computers, but also the smallest desktop computer in the world, which also means that it will be the most portable desktop equipment.

Anonymous8198 Aug 12, 2024In fact, just replace the ATV with a new soc and flash it on macos. The built-in power supply is not a problem, and the heat dissipation is not a problem. It is much simpler than the NUC side. If the battery is removed from the macbook, the motherboard is just a little bit.

Anonymous2041 Aug 12, 2024"The smallest desktop computer in the world", I wonder if I don't regard those N100 mini hosts on Taobao as desktop computers

Anonymous7495 Aug 12, 2024@ Anonymous3018 I don't think it should be a notebook-like type-c charging head 65w or 95w
-
Anonymous2159 Aug 12, 2024@ Anonymous3026 then see if the power supply is built-in or external. If it is built-in, this volume is quite good... (NUC's original big power supply is bigger than the chassis 😂) If it is external, it is true that the body is a bit too big. It can only be understood that the M4 Pro can run at full load for a long time?

Anonymous7496 Aug 12, 2024The scalability of this interface is going to become a mystery, good for Mac Studio?
-
Anonymous452 Aug 12, 2024@ Anonymous2159 must be built-in. Has Apple ever produced anything with an external power supply except for the macbook?
-
Anonymous2159 Aug 12, 2024@ Anonymous452 Like Vision Pro? 😆 Now, I hope that the interconnection between the headless Mac Mini and the Vision Pro will be easier in the future, so that I can take the Mac Mini with me often

Anonymous7497 Aug 12, 2024@ Anonymous452 Strictly speaking, aren't all mobile devices in A's family external power supplies? I don't think it's strange to use port C for power supply, right?
-
Anonymous2159 Aug 12, 2024@ Anonymous7497 I feel that the C port on a desktop without a built-in battery is quite complicated... Do you have to use a dedicated power supply? Otherwise, there will be some very painful situations. For example, some C-port PD chargers will reduce the power when their temperature is too high. It doesn't matter if the notebook can use its own battery to support it. In this case, does the desktop still have time to reduce the frequency by itself?

Anonymous895 Aug 13, 2024Will this be the most expensive mac mini ever

Anonymous7498 Aug 13, 2024@ Anonymous7494 Look at the price, below 5k consider playing

Anonymous8510 Aug 13, 2024@ Anonymous2159 # 32 ARM does not consume high power, and MacMini is not a performance-oriented device. PD power supply of 30w should be enough.

Anonymous2828 Aug 13, 2024Unfortunately, I can't play games

Anonymous4005 Aug 13, 2024@ Anonymous895 Yes, guess why it is redesigned, how can you dare to raise the price without stacking some buffs?

Anonymous3503 Aug 13, 2024@ Anonymous7498 Cook has a high probability that the lowest configuration will sell you for more than 10,000 yuan, I estimate.

Anonymous452 Aug 13, 2024@ Anonymous7497 These all bring their own batteries, and pd is only responsible for charging them. But Raspberry Pi is powered by pure pd, let's see how to choose the fruit
