mac-m1 found that it has been stuck recently, and it has to be restarted basically every day. The idea development feels stuck.

-My configuration is 512 + 16g and the memory is not quite enough -Is there any optimization plan? I really regret not using 32g at the beginning. https://i.imgur.com/cetEYpK.png

I have the same configuration as you, and I have replaced it with a 64 + 4T laptop in 2019, and it works fine

Don't upgrade the system, I'm still 12.7.4. No feeling card.

I am the same configuration issued by the company. The network administrator asked me to start multiple times, but it is impossible to change the phone https://i.imgur.com/n119Wvk. png

The GPU occupies a part of the memory. To be honest, although the 2015 MF840 I used before was only 8G, the memory can generally maintain 3 to 4G. Later, I changed to the m1pro 16G. After running for a period of time, only about 3G was left, and it was less than 2G. Problems with various development environments

I feel like you can reinstall the system

Unitary reply: The project also has some problems, I develop my own project will not get stuck.. The main reason is that there is not enough memory. Is there any software to clean up memory or something like that?

    idea try using zgc

It may also be storage. When the memory is not enough, swap but there is not much storage

Hard drive is almost full swap space is not enough?

Try vscode. I used the machine for three or four years before. In the last year, I basically replaced it with vscode, brave and other memory-friendly software

mac depends on memory pressure, not on usage. If you are 61% stressed at work, it is not too much. However, it is a problem that the remaining ssd is less than 10%. The erasable and writable space is too small, so it is easy to get stuck and break.

@ Anonymous1786 has something to do with ssd, right? I'll delete something and try

Why is 16g enough …. When you were crazy that 8g was enough, I was complaining that my mbp2011 was 16g.

Is m1pro? I remember that the maximum m1 is only 16g

There is a high probability that the lag is caused by the disk. Migrating important data and directly resetting the computer without updating the system is the fastest and most effective method

@ Anonymous3328 Well thanks should be, I deleted 100g of stuff obviously feeling better
  • Anonymous3329 Sep 13, 2024
16G is really not enough. I used to use 16 Intel. After switching to m3, I looked at the memory usage and realized that the previous 16G was really carrying a heavy load

The remaining space of the SSD should be about 30%, otherwise the performance will be affected, and the swap speed will also slow down.
