Is the occasional remote 16G mini enough at home?

At present, I have a 16 +512 notebook, which has been occupied seriously recently. I want to buy another PC for home use. mbp is too expensive and it doesn't feel necessary. The new mini feels like the price is very right. Specific needs: -Generally, VPN + remote desktop is needed to go to the company windows to handle the work. -Maybe occasionally open an IDEA + chrome locally to learn, mainly the Java backend. Is 16G memory enough for home use? Is it necessary to add to 24G?
