I want to buy a MacMini as a development machine. Do you have any suggestions?

The computer provided by the company is not easy to use, and I still have a 19-year-old mbp with 16GB. It's really a little overwhelmed. Development programming is mainly Java, Flink, etc. Possible double opening items. Generally no more. Docker generally runs postgres, redis, etc. It is also possible to run some other databases temporarily to facilitate debugging. Judging from the recent load, I feel that 24G is relatively suitable, but this generation has the AI cake, so is it necessary to use 32G? There is also hard disk space. I think reddit writes 512G faster than 256, but I think 256 + external storage solution. In addition, I don't know how the maven warehouse, Idea index, cache, and Docker-related materials are all lost to external storage.

I also wanted to get one, but I hesitated when I saw that the peripheral panel and keyboard were very expensive

@ Anonymous3279 no pressure refers to throwing those things into external storage.. In addition, at least how much speed does it take to be insensitive yesterday?

I would like to ask you, if you are designing and use PS and AI, is the latest mac mini enough?

    @ Anonymous2148 Then I research research

Then buy one on the official website and get a refund within 14 days without reason. Enough experience. Storage recommendation 512G

@ Poster Daily use is definitely stress-free. Unless you have nothing to do all day to copy hundreds of gigabytes of data, USB3 is enough

After a while, the hard disk of the auxiliary factory should be on sale, and there will definitely be no pressure to upgrade the hard disk capacity by then.

@ Anonymous8026 Why do you suggest 512G? After all, +256G = 1500. I feel that it seems more cost-effective to put this money on memory that cannot be upgraded?

If you can get up to 32, I only opened an IDE and it was 80%.

    # 13 Sorry I didn't post the picture. This is still a Python IDE. I remember that the related components of Java will eat more memory. https://i.imgur.com/rKcPQdd.png

    @ Anonymous2157 Don't you only use less than 8G
  • Anonymous2157 Nov 22, 2024
    @ Anonymous2214 # 14 Used: 18.9 GB, it doesn't count if it can't be compressed, 😂

@ Anonymous2157 macos will occupy as much memory as possible, so whether the memory is enough depends on the memory pressure on the left If it is green, it means that there is a batch of free memory now, yellow is a bit tight, and red means that the memory is about to be full

@ Anonymous2214 # 16 I know, if I open one or two more IDEs, it will be yellow. I thought I said I only opened one.

@ Anonymous2214 # 16 If you are yellow, you have already eaten a lot of Swap, and sometimes there will be obvious operation delays.

@ Anonymous6186 It's not like other brands of keyboards and mice can't be used
