Is anyone using the Japanese cellular version of Apple WATCH?
There are two problems:
1. Can the Japanese cellular version be connected to esim in China?
2. When using cellular data, can it be completely used without the mobile phone? For example, sending and receiving WeChat messages and so on.

No, only watches from the Bank of China can use mainland esim, which is a specially supplied model in mainland China. Unless overseas operators are used, international roaming traffic is used in mainland China. However, there seem to be very few operators that support apple watch international roaming. 2. Yes, but it consumes a lot of electricity. The S5 cellular version I used before, China Unicom's esim, has always turned on the cellular network, and if it is used without the mobile phone, the battery life can be reduced by one third or more. There is a WeChat client on the watch. After installation, you can trust to send and receive WeChat messages without the phone, but the experience is not good. Watch-connected airpods can listen to offline cached music without a phone, and even online with cellular networks if you are wayward. But the same battery life is urinary insipidus. In the past, my S5 even had to be charged twice a day in the later stage of use. The apple watch is very powerful, but the battery life is very long.

Anonymous4324 Jan 9, 2025Note one point. I bought the Hong Kong version of Apple Watch S10. The Apple Watch charging cable produced after the new national standard cannot flush the Hong Kong version of Apple Watch S10. It will display "This is a dedicated charger for a specific country or region and is not compatible with this Apple Watch". Older Apple Watch charging cables and third-party charging cables are currently fine.

From my universe, Apple official website watch can roam internationally, and there are operators providing international roaming services. It's just quite expensive.
