I have a Mac Mini M2 256G for surfing the Internet when I go home from work
Prepare to use it to download BT/PT to store movies and TV series and back up some data, as a local NAS
The demand is 4T, Thunderbolt 4, more emphasis on stability, no drop, no pursuit of ultimate speed, budget within 2000
The one I have studied so far is the Akasis TBU405. Is it necessary to use a fan model?
Do you have any recommendations for 4T hard drives?

Anonymous7351 Feb 18, 2025Your question is indeed great But go to station b and take a look, and you will find More than 700 hard disk boxes Hard disk 4t is not fully popularized in every user's hands yet (because 4t is too expensive)! It's better to read the reviews at station B. I looked at the price and immediately dissuaded me

Anonymous7352 Feb 19, 2025I bought Akasis 405Plus + P41. It is stable and has not dropped the disk so far, and the speed can run to full speed

Poster Feb 19, 2025@ Anonymous7351 The Akasis fan model is 500 yuan on pdd. The 4T hard drive is indeed too expensive. The reliable one is 1500 +. I dare not use the cheap one. I am going to buy the 2T one

Poster Feb 19, 2025@ Anonymous7352 How is the temperature? At present, I am looking at the slow disk and wondering whether the temperature will be more stable if the temperature is low. If there is a slow disk, the temperature can be suppressed, then buy a slow disk, and it will be more widely used in the future

Anonymous2960 Feb 20, 2025Akassi is relatively reliable, but if you pursue speed, the temperature is unavoidable. The high fan model also makes a little loud As for the hard disk, it's still 2T? 4T is really not cost-effective

Anonymous1687 Feb 20, 2025When using USB4 OWC 1M2, it is very stable. When the low temperature is 26 degrees, the built-in PCIe 3.0 NVMe hard drive returns no more than 45 degrees. Except for long-term full-speed reading and writing, it is 38 degrees most of the time. The heat is mainly from the ASM2464PD chip rather than the NVMe hard drive. The problem is that the compatibility is not as good as other brands. It only supports 40Gbps USB4 and 10Gbps USB3 rates. Thunderbolt 3 will drop to 10Gbps. Personally, I think passive heat dissipation boxes are more reliable than active heat dissipation. As long as the passive heat dissipation design is reasonable, it can completely suppress ASM2464 and JHL7440 boxes + PCIe 4.0 NVMe.

Anonymous9784 Feb 25, 2025I have used a lot of boxes due to work. I think itgz is better. It's simple and cheap

Anonymous9848 Feb 27, 2025Using cheap itgz It's okay to heat up. Standby is 40 +. Currently the highest is over 50 +. It doesn't matter if you don't touch this thing The speed is no problem, a little higher than the original m4 hard drive

Anonymous4097 Mar 2, 2025I have a Thunderbolt 4 from Axis. I took it apart and looked at the main control of intel. The speed is faster, but the temperature does feel high. I recommend buying the new one with a cooling fan. I kind of want to diy the price radiator. Got up

Anonymous4097 Mar 2, 2025Why is it recommended to buy one with a fan? I didn't look at the price of a fan. It's just that the money is spent and it's comfortable, so don't worry about it. Make an estimate for yourself. If you have a spare fan that can be placed in a fixed position, you can also diy it. Occasionally, the temperature will be higher when you take it out. Anyway, the temperature in the chassis is not low now, but when you touch it, you intuitively feel that it is uncomfortable.
