Looking at this post, many people encounter abnormal crashes
15.3.2 Upgrade seems to be no problem, but cross-version upgrades or wiping disks and reinstalling to the latest are all abnormal crashes, cannot start or upgrade fails
15.4 has big bugs
I just happened to reinstall the system in these two days, and I just happened to meet this bug, which made me depressed for a day. So just remind everyone
Summary:
15.4 There is a big bug in the operation of reinstallation or cross-version upgrade (read the comments saying it is m1 series)
Coupled with the private api problem, the compilation fails and some software fails, so it is best not to upgrade or toss recently

Anonymous5822 Apr 5, 2025m1 max upgraded to 15.4. After the upgrade, I also entered the password and restarted and entered the password. Finally, it came again after forced shutdown. Well, the pop-up box third-party kernel extension prevented this machine from starting successfully

Anonymous2440 Apr 5, 2025It has crashed, the built-in cannot be upgraded, and the external has been entering recovery mode 😋

Anonymous10943 Apr 5, 2025I successfully upgraded, but a series of software problems occurred, including chronod occupying CPU, Find My Mac cannot be shut down or started, and a process will suddenly fill the hard disk:/t/1122695 Then when I planned to reinstall the system, the situation mentioned in the post occurred. After several installations, it always fell back halfway, showing that the reinstallation failed. Now intending to upgrade to 15.5.

Anonymous10943 Apr 5, 2025@ Poster Will retiring the version cause other problems?

Anonymous10729 Apr 5, 2025How do you retain the existing settings and restore them quickly when you reinstall the system?
-
Poster Apr 5, 2025@ Anonymous10943 Does the data be guaranteed from high to low? That definitely doesn't work. I mean wipe the disk and reinstall it to 15.3.2
-
Anonymous10943 Apr 5, 2025@ Poster That's so troublesome. If you want Time Machine, it's better to upgrade 15.5 to see if it can solve the problem.

Anonymous5823 Apr 6, 2025Is it so scary? 😱, I upgraded my m4 to 15.4 directly after I got it. Fortunately, I didn't encounter any problems

Anonymous8464 Apr 6, 2025Good guy... I wiped the disk and installed 15.4, but now I can't get into the system. 😬 is going to the Apple Store to restore the firmware
-
Poster Apr 6, 2025@ Anonymous8464 hahaha Another trick, you can erase the disk first (recovery mode becomes 14), and then you can install 14 online in recovery mode and start successfully. Finally, see the postscript whether to upgrade or reinstall to 15.3.2

Anonymous8464 Apr 6, 2025@ Poster macOS 15.0-15.3.2 will become 14 after being erased, but macOS 15.4 should upgrade the firmware... You can only install 15 online ðŸ˜
