Bad news! When installing 15.4 to an external hard disk, there is an error in user data migration and cannot be started!

I first upgraded the system in the internal hard drive to 15.4, and everything worked fine.
Then when upgrading the external hard disk system, the restart failed and I jumped to recovery mode, saying that there was an error when migrating user data, and asked me to reinstall the system to solve the problem.
However, when reinstalling, it prompts that the permissions are insufficient. Really drunk.
So what are the correct upgrade steps???
Fortunately, I separated the external hard disk into a separate file to store data before, and now I'm going to erase the system file.
I feel like it's better to use the internal hard disk to install the system. My internal hard disk has 512G, which is not enough. Many software, such as xcode, can only be installed on the system disk and cannot be moved out for use, which is very disappointing. Even if the software can be installed on an external hard disk, the data it generates is generally placed in the resource library of the system disk, which is difficult to crash.

Poster Apr 9, 2025@ Anonymous9203 Thank you https://i.imgur.com/NIvxivj. png. It has been erased, not installed, and used back to the internal hard drive system. Save the data on the external hard drive first.

Poster Apr 9, 2025@ Anonymous11718 There is still nothing wrong with the hard disk itself, but there are more and more bugs in the macos system. If the built-in hard disk can be used, just use the built-in one. It's really difficult to crash.

Anonymous7326 Apr 9, 2025The external hard drive upgrade has crashed +1, all data is lost, too confident and did not do timemachine

Anonymous7327 Apr 10, 2025The external hard disk upgrade failed, and the internal hard disk could not be booted. I went to Genius Bar to recover it. Is there any new data storage solution now? The internal hard disk is too small to hold anything

Anonymous7327 Apr 10, 2025@ Poster If sip is turned off and the system in the external disk is upgraded, is this feasible?
