Weird! Enter key automatically wakes up apple music and plays it automatically

by Poster Apr 9, 2025 20
System version: Macos Sequoia 15.4 Question: In the past two days, the enter key of the keyboard suddenly opens apple music automatically and plays it in any other app as long as you press the enter key. (It may be caused by children typing the keyboard randomly) Troubleshooting: I don't see this setting in Settings--Keyboard--Keyboard Shortcuts. I checked it with gpt but couldn't find the reason. There's really nothing I can do. Please help! xdm.

    Supplement: Pressing the enter key in other apps when telegram is playing audio will pause telegram audio (will not wake up apple music)

    Apple music on macOS is a bit chaotic. It often pauses and closes the lid and then opens it, prompting to stop playback on other devices

    @ Anonymous9772 My audio playback/pause hotkey should be hijacked to the enter key

    Try turning off the programs in the upper right corner one by one

    Does it come with your own keyboard? Reset everything nvram and so on If it doesn't come with a keyboard, there is a kind of web page that reads keycode, tap on it and see If you have a more advanced mechanical keyboard, you can also go to those firmware flashing webpages to try, and there will be lower-level feedback

    @ Anonymous3631 does not come with it. The mac mini m2 pro is equipped with the remaining rapoo v500 pro keyboard used by win before. There is a high probability that it is not a keyboard problem. For the time being, I disabled it with hidutil first: Hidutil property--set '{"UserKeyMapping": [{"HIDKeyboardModifierMappingSrc": 0x700000058, "HIDKeyboardModifierMappingDst": 0x7000000E7}]}'

    Hidutil property--set '{"UserKeyMapping": [{"HIDKeyboardModifierMappingSrc": 0x700000058, "HIDKeyboardModifierMappingDst": 0x700000028}]}' Map the keypad Enter (0x58) to ordinary Enter (0x28), macOS still triggers the audio playback behavior, really appreciate it

    Create a new user and try it If it is a hardware problem (or a system problem), the new user should also trigger

    @ Anonymous3631 new user also triggered.

    Laugh to death, Reminds me of playing with my brother's mobile phone when I was a child. After setting it, I couldn't change it back later 🤣

    I have encountered a similar situation on windows, that is, my child pressed randomly on the keyboard, and finally all the keyboard functions were messed up. After pressing it, various programs were opened inexplicably. I still don't know how to change it back, so I can only restart the computer.

    It seems that it has been mapped to the position corresponding to the playback function key of the Apple keyboard, that is, F8...

    @ Anonymous8449 Yes, but the line breaking function of the enter key itself is still there. At present, find a solution to solve it temporarily. Use karabiner-elements to add a rule: { "title": "Prevent Keypad Enter from triggering Play/Pause", "rules": { "description": "Block play _ or _ pause caused by keypad _ enter", "manipulators": [ { "type": "basic", "from": { "Consumer _ key _ code": "play _ or _ pause" }, "conditions": [ { "type": "device _ if", "identifiers": { "Vendor _ id": 666, "Product _ id": 888 } ] } ], "to": } ] } ] }

    Check whether other keys on the keyboard are pressed, and whether the key combination will be triggered

    It should be a hardware problem. It may be that two points on the circuit board are accidentally connected. It may be dust or oxidation. Every time you press enter, the circuit of the media playback key will be connected at the same time.

    @ Anonymous897 sure no @ Anonymous357 has been using it for a long time, this possibility is very high.

    My side is even weirder, the little universe starts playing automatically without pressing anything
