Why does the book software that comes with mac always crash?..

Two situations:
1. If you cut the screen for a while and then cut it back, you can only see the highlighted marks that have been made, and the background is completely blank
2. Directly crashed and crashed
The main reason for using this thing is that icloud can be synchronized and tags can also be synchronized, which feels okay.
How to solve this problem (upgrade the system? I am m1 mbp, can I upgrade at the moment 13, 15?), or is there an alternative?
