Recommendation of office meeting headphones

by Poster May 9, 2025 28
I often have online meetings with customers or within the company at office meetings, because other colleagues also have to communicate, so the office is generally not so quiet. I have tried bose qc45 and AirPods pro/4, but the feedback from the other party is that the sound on my side can't be heard clearly, it's far away or intermittent. The better effect is to use the 3.5 mm wired headphones that come with the iPhone. I would like to ask if there are any other headphones that have good call effects (referring to microphones that have good sound reception and microphones that can reduce noise) that can be recommended. Of course, if they can take into account active noise reduction (bring them when you work, don't listen to other people's voices) and sound quality is even better.

Headphones and microphones are two things, so we should look at them separately. For microphones alone, if others can hear clearly, it is mainly by improving the signal-to-noise ratio. The office environment is not quiet enough, so the sensitivity of the microphone should not be too high, otherwise the ambient noise will be recorded, which is to reduce the noise component. However, if the sensitivity of the microphone is not high, it needs to be closer to the mouth, and the speaker's voice needs to be loud enough to provide enough signal for recording. This is to improve the signal components, so that the other party will have enough "signal-to-noise ratio" to hear the information clearly. If you want to use it for a meeting, it is obviously not suitable to hold it in hand. Consider a microphone that supports head-mounted and can be adjusted in position. If the budget is sufficient, the microphone also has various directional microphones, which use physics and technology to improve the signal-to-noise ratio, and even stick to the throat. A pickup microphone that directly feels the vibration. It's a bit exaggerated though. As for the so-called automatic noise reduction microphones, most of them are processed by software, analyzing the noise and signals of the current environment, using software to reduce the proportion of noise, and retaining the vocal part. They can handle common situations, but they may not be suitable for all environments. I have only experienced Apple's airpod pro, and the office is OK, but if you get to the subway, you still have to shout, and it is generally reflected that the sound is too low (because the microphone is far away from the mouth). As for headphones, they just play back the sound for your own listening. Whether you reduce noise or not depends on your personal needs.

Specifically, you can look for headphones made by major manufacturers that are biased towards communication. Don't look for headphones on the market for consumer music. Most of the communication functions of these headphones are just icing on the cake.

@ Poster # 16 I take off my headphones and put them on again before they appear. And it shows that the microphone cannot be recognized in the macOS system, that is, there is no input as xm5 microphone; But the audio output is there. It is not clear whether it is a Bluetooth protocol problem, or the supported codec negotiation is not done well, or it is a macOS compatibility and adaptation problem

@ Anonymous8610 macOS adaptation problem, this happens occasionally, go to Audio MIDI Setup to set it once

@ Poster # 24 supplement XM4 and XM5 have two microphone modes by default, and macOS sometimes cannot be determined. Friends meet occasionally, but I really haven't touched it here

@ Poster # 25 I don't understand it. What do you want to set up in Audio MIDI Setup?

@ Anonymous8610 Specify the microphone output device

Thank you all, I have initially fallen in love with a certain series of Jabra evolve2. I will wait for xm6 to be released in a few days. Compare it and see if I choose one of these two
