Is setapp a consumption trap?

I wanted to make an easy-to-use email tool, and I was very concerned about full-platform synchronization and ai classification functions, so I saw spark mail.
It costs 400 + to buy spark mail alone, which far exceeds my psychological expectations. So I saw the set app, which supports many more apps, but relatively speaking, spark mail does not account for that large proportion of its expenditure.
But I'm rather confused. It seems that I can't use most of this set app, so I may be able to use spark.
Is this a consumption trap? I might as well just go buy spark...
Please help me analyze it, or help me find a replacement for spark.

Anonymous1036 May 12, 2025You like apples, but you can eat them all the time if you want 400 + Someone offers you the function of packing a variety of fruits, paying 200 per year. The average person's choice is to buy a packaged fruit, and you can not only eat your favorite apples, but also eat all kinds of packaged fruits. If you eat it here and there, only apples like it, and you don't like any other fruits with a price of 2000 +. Then next time I don't buy packaged fruits, go back and buy 400 + apples. Although it seems that 200 is wasted, the cost of large-scale trial and error (2000 + fruits) is still acceptable. If there are many fruits that like it, it provides a new opportunity to choose. That's all If someone uses the probation period for trial and error, it's not impossible. The difference is the difference in time cost for everyone.

Anonymous2215 May 12, 2025setapp is equivalent to another app store, which I would (probably) use: istats, bartender are both status bars dash document host clean my mac delete when you run out Cleanshot X screenshot better zip compression and decompression wifi explorer The independent prices of the products of the setapp alliance are indeed outrageous, and in fact, there are open source alternatives to the software on the mac platform. I am too lazy to find the one, so it is not a trap for me, it is just a bit extravagant

Anonymous2235 May 12, 2025From my experience with Readdle's products (Spark, PDF Expert), its products look good on the surface, but they are actually very frustrating. Sometimes large pdf files cannot be rendered, and the pages are turned to display mosaics, which also takes up a lot of memory. At least I didn't get the background color replacement function before I uninstalled it last time. I don't know how its false reputation came to be hyped.

Anonymous2236 May 12, 2025@ Anonymous2235 Its PDF Expert is an independent PDF engine, not calling Apple, and it is normal to use up more memory. PDF Expert mainly processes PDF, not a reader. For example, I think its PDF compression function is very practical.

Anonymous1766 May 12, 2025@ Anonymous2235 Indeed, is there an alternative to PDF Expert now? The main purpose is to directly copy pictures in PDF.

Anonymous2237 May 12, 2025I'm subscribing to setapp, but I use the free version of spark. The free version actually has enough functions...

Anonymous2235 May 12, 2025@ Anonymous2236 I seldom deal with PDF. I saw the recommendation before and lightly used PDFgear
-
Anonymous2235 May 12, 2025@ Anonymous1766 I mainly use Skim, plus PDFgear is said to be good. When copying pictures, I usually take screenshots, or use Preview to capture a part and copy it in PDF format.

Anonymous906 May 12, 2025You can play a lot of games with xbox gamepass and PlayStation subscriptions, but I still say thank you No, I can buy the games I want to play separately.

Anonymous559 May 12, 2025Unsubscribed from commonly used software Buying it separately will always remove useful software from the shelves

Anonymous2238 May 13, 2025Most of the things subscribed are. Moreover, spark is average, and the search function is too poor. Might as well bring your own email.

Poster May 13, 2025@ Anonymous559 I don't think it's a problem with platform operation. The app must have felt that its promotion purpose had been achieved, so it took it off the shelves to make money

Anonymous2239 May 13, 2025@ Anonymous1766 Is this better than wps' pdf processing function?

Anonymous2235 May 13, 2025@ Anonymous2240 Without your needs, there is no need to spend 500 + to buy this software

Anonymous9595 May 13, 2025I won't buy a subscription pass like Set App for the following reasons: -Not all applications in Set App are the best in the category -Suppose there is an application A included in the Set App, and then there is an external application B, application B is more comprehensive and better than application A as a whole -Then, if I buy the Set App, I will be reluctant to buy the application B with a better experience, but wronged to use the application A of the Set App-otherwise, buying B separately will make me feel that I have paid the monthly fee of the Set App. loss -However, if I don't have a monthly payment for Set App, I can buy App B without any burden. -On the whole, buying the Set App is less effective than not buying the Set App, so it is better not to buy it
