MacBook pro m4pro battery life breaks down

I switched to m4pro. The energy consumption mode was automatic and the brightness was automatic. I only turned on some chrome and vscode remote and some other programs with no load. The power of 70 can only be used for 4 hours? It's so different from the previous experience when using M1 mbp. It has been used for a while, so it can roughly rule out the reason why spotlight rebuilds the index? Other friends who use m4pro, what is the power consumption situation?

Poster May 18, 2025@ Anonymous2236 My power is about this: CPU + GPU (graphics card) are both mw level, less than 1w; Display: 5w; I don't know about the rest, the normal situation fluctuates between 10w and 12w; The front desk is nothing more than chrome + vscode

Poster May 18, 2025@ Anonymous2690 # 18 I can't see any abnormal programs in CPU utilization. Except for suggestd's occasional convulsions (it seems to have disappeared recently), the others are basically 1-2% utilization

Poster May 18, 2025@ Anonymous1575 chrome is indeed outrageous and takes up a lot of memory.. The biggest reason to change computers is chrome

Poster May 18, 2025@ Anonymous633 Brother What is the approximate situation of CPU/display/other power consumption?
-
Poster May 18, 2025@ Anonymous11909 has been updated to 15.5, and the power consumption has not improved
-
Poster May 18, 2025@ Anonymous906 Don't want to spend a day alone testing this.. I can only bring a charger first to survive

Anonymous11005 May 18, 2025Take a look at the applications that consume a lot of power

Anonymous9671 May 18, 2025Energy Efficiency: On OLED and AMOLED screens, dark mode can extend battery life by up to 30-47% because black pixels consume less power or are turned off completely

Anonymous3172 May 18, 2025@ Poster has been to the official genius bar. When the same model is placed there, the power failure speed is very obvious, and the power consumption display is normal. After running the hardware test several times, there is no problem. They can't tell what the possible reason is at all, and I'm too lazy to wrangle and withdraw it. Anyway, it's plugged in most of the time. But it's still pretty bad.

Anonymous2690 May 18, 2025@ Poster My own mbp2017 was out of power after sleeping for a day with the lid closed, and it didn't improve after changing the battery. After reinstalling, the symptoms completely disappeared, just for reference.

Anonymous480 May 18, 2025The 16-inch M3 Pro saves power when turned on, and has a battery life of 30h + for daily light office work. Something is obviously wrong with yours

Anonymous11508 May 18, 2025@ Anonymous480 Are you outrageous, alien technology
-
Anonymous11981 May 18, 2025@ Anonymous8238 You started using this with 100% battery, right?
-
Anonymous480 May 18, 2025@ Anonymous11508 The 16-inch battery life is very high. Turn on the power saving mode and only process documents. Safari web browsing can be used for more than a day

Anonymous3182 May 18, 2025See if the swap is relatively high, the SSD may consume power
-
Poster May 18, 2025What brother @ Anonymous9671 said makes sense. I tested that the power consumption of the monitor is only 2w when using the black terminal, and 5-6w in other cases; But it is not realistic to use all black for normal use

Poster May 18, 2025@ Anonymous480 # 31 This battery life is outrageous
-
Poster May 18, 2025@ Anonymous3182 Because it is 48G memory, there is no swap yet

Anonymous2636 May 18, 2025This is too outrageous

Anonymous1786 May 19, 2025Don't chrome unless necessary. Since the intel era, chrome has been a major consumer of electricity for mac. In addition, the M4 generation inherently consumes more electricity than the m1, and the 14-inch battery life is not as good as that of the 13-inch generation. I'm just worried about battery life. I bought a 16-inch, m4max, vscode + a win11 virtual machine, which consumes 50-60% of the electricity a day without compiling. Also, I don't have any performance monitoring plug-ins and domestic apps installed on my computer.
