Is there a complete scheme for mac mini to change to NAS (black group)?

It has been five years since the release of M1, and the second-hand price has almost fallen below the thousand yuan mark.
Moreover, factors such as strong performance, extremely low power consumption, super streaming media decoding...
I think it's best suited as a NAS
So, is there any good software and hardware solution at present that can make it run systems such as black groups stably?
1. How to stabilize the plug-in of the urine bag? (Hard disk array)
2. Coexistence of macos and mainstream NAS systems, driver installation, etc...

Anonymous10073 May 22, 2025The Mac mini has always been one of my servers at home, and as a NAS, it's certainly the good choice. 1. PT download and install qb directly; 2. Movie, emby server; 3. File sharing, SMB; 4. Storage, Thunderbolt 3 interface, external U.2, M.2, HDD, all very convenient, there are various hard disk cabinets/hard disk boxes; 5. Network Center, surge; 6. Remote management, I use a Mac, so sharing the desktop is very convenient; What else do you need? If you have small needs, you can run a docker, and it will be fine. Some atv does not support it, or does not support it well, Aiyouteng, lose the mini of the TV cabinet, plug in an hdmi, and you can play it.

Anonymous10073 May 22, 2025Regarding storage plug-ins, I have all the options here: 1. Plug-in M.2, 1 position, 4 position, all available; 2. Plug-in U.2, 1 disk position and 4 disk position are also available; All the above are WERO's 3. Plug-in HDD, which does not support raid, I am using Shiteli 5-disk and Tieweima 4-disk. The 5-disk from Feiniu is also good (I didn't buy it because I had it); 4. External HDD, 4 disks support raid, Garden Dog No. 1, my friend's, but the first version supports win and Linux, which can be replaced with an array card that supports Mac, with a built-in hardware array card and a built-in power supply; What else, I haven't thought of it yet. raid for SSD, softraid for owc, I bought a license. Why Use a Mac as a File Center? 1. I am an Apple ecosystem user, and my iCloud photos will be synchronized locally through all original photos of Photo, so that I can have a copy locally on my mobile phone, iCloud, and Mac; Regularly backup local to external storage; 2. APFS file system supports encryption.

Anonymous2377 May 22, 2025I feel that the stability of mac mini as nas is doubtful. I now use it as a soft router + Internet user. I can also remotely access other devices at home with surge ponte. It is still sufficient for light use

Anonymous10073 May 22, 2025@ Anonymous2377 I have been running steadily for several years. The highest peak at home has 4 m1 m2 minis Now m2pro m4pro 2 units

Anonymous10073 May 22, 2025When playing with the NAS core, it is better to figure out your own needs. Don't have no needs. If you only do downloads, film and television servers, and file centers, it is qualified and stable But if you expect to do anything else, it's still X86

Anonymous10073 May 22, 2025I have a just need, but the mini cannot solve it for the time being, an AI photo album. Because I have saved photos and videos for 25 years, with a total of 10 T's, I hope: 1. Natural language image search 2. Intelligent classification and aggregation Currently using 3: 1. MT PHOTO 2. Feiniu's AI photo album 3. Lazy Cat Weifu's AI photo album Currently 3 works best, 2 is about the same as 1, but 2 has an overall NAS solution I've always wanted to find an AI local photo album under Mac. Do you have any suitable recommendations?

Anonymous779 May 22, 2025I'm just using a mac mini M1 as a NAS. Except I wrote the whole set of code myself. To put it bluntly, the bottom layer uses macOS, and the upper layer runs its own software. Because I wrote the code myself, I also lost the Synology DS920 and QNAP 453Dmini. Because the two of them natively support docker, I encapsulated my code into docker, set up a 9000 port in them, and used my own software functions for daily use. And because Android phones support termux, the complete JDK21 can be run in termux, so my entire set of code has turned Android phones into full-featured NAS. As long as the settings allow termux to run in the background, then my file synchronization, backup, snapshots, as well as listening to music, reading novels, browsing pictures, watching movies, browsing other people's websites I climbed down, etc. in web app mode can all be implemented through my own code. For example, in the past two days, I'm playing the 3DS emulator's new love accompanying 2.1. 1. I'm playing on my mobile phone while letting the computer synchronize my game progress data. The advantage was that he could travel back in time at any time. For example, after Gao Ling Aihua, a girl in the game, confessed to me, I can say that I didn't have this idea. Let's be ordinary friends, 😄. Anyway, I can always go back to the old game schedule and say I do 😄 again. It feels good to control the time at will

Anonymous59 May 22, 2025@ Anonymous10073 # 27 150 yuan to buy the first generation of piexl, all the videos and photos are uploaded to the google photo album, beat the three you mentioned

Anonymous10126 May 22, 2025@ Anonymous59 I also use the pixel solution, but I always feel that I have to save a local copy, and share it. Some relatives and friends don't have magic and it's inconvenient to see or upload photos. I have my own local Black Dress, unraid, QNAP, Extreme Space, and Greenlink. I share it with my friends mainly on Black Dress. My family uses Huawei storage because they have Huawei mobile phones. I haven't fully decided which solution to use. It's so confused

Anonymous350 May 22, 2025Synology only has a full-blood version of x86, and it cannot be used on arm such as abp, so I have never heard of anyone engaging in arm black dress. Other nas systems basically do not support arm, so I can only install an orbstack. Build it yourself with containers For urine bags, you can use Thunderbolt. Theoretically, you can buy a Thunderbolt hard disk box and plug it in m2 to sata. It is the equivalent solution to the commercial nas, but the driver may not necessarily be available. As for the ordinary usb to sata hard disk case, it is somewhat a hearse

Anonymous10127 May 23, 2025@ Anonymous10073 boss, how do you solve the problem of macOS's smb drop when you are so skilled in using it? (You can see my other post) The problem of macOS mount dropping is really annoying

Anonymous10127 May 23, 2025@ Anonymous59 Yes, I am also using the Pixel solution, as long as the gg account is not hung up, it should still be stable

Anonymous10073 May 23, 2025@ Anonymous10127 I'm not a big boss ha Mac's SMB does have compatibility problems, but I rarely encounter Mac disconnection I saved the account password in the client, and if the desktop drive letter is gone, just click it
