Why is the mainstream macmini plug-in hard disk box instead of direct mobile hard disk

If the hard disk box is chosen in consideration of the speed and heat dissipation of the external system, can I just buy a mobile hard disk directly if I only put the data externally?

Of course you can, but the hard disk box is flexible and the upper limit is high

I was wrong, the mobile hard drive of the same speed is indeed much more expensive, considering the price, the hard drive box should also be 😂

In addition, I would like to ask why Akasis is so expensive. Are there any other reliable brands in 😂?

@ Poster I don't necessarily buy this, but the price of the same chip solution is about the same. I only recommend this chip solution and the others are not stable

I use the SanDisk TB3 hard drive
  • Anonymous2696 May 31, 2025
@ Anonymous2697 Akasis, stable and professional

It should be used for whatever it is. I use the hard disk box only because there is a free m2 solid state.

USB eats CPU and is slow (4k)

The hard disk box is stable and fast Compared with similar products, Akasis is more stable Some manufacturers' products are 2X, and the solid stabilizing screws in 500-600 products do not need to be stuck with rubber

I don't quite understand the difference between a hard drive box + SSD and a mobile hard drive. Aren't they all USB external storage devices? The manufacturer's mobile hard disk is also a hard disk box + SSD, which may have a little more firmware functions or something Is the mobile hard disk mentioned here an only mechanical hard disk?

Because the hard disk box uses Thunderbolt 4, it is basically about the same speed as the internal hard disk, and the mobile hard disk can't reach half the speed of the former even if it uses usb3.2

Slowly type a question mark. The so-called mobile hard disk refers to the mechanical hard disk, while the hard disk box refers to the SSD? Aren't these all the same? One is a board that converts SATA protocol to USB + hard disk (which can be mechanical or solid-state), and the other is a NVME protocol to USB + NVME SSD. What is the difference?

@ Anonymous2356 11 # The price of chips supporting lightning is not too low. Now there are only a handful of them, and all the ones picked up everywhere are USB3, and the price is of course low. As for the so-called drop-off, cheap chips and cheap master controls, it must not be Both need and need.

@ Anonymous3475 It should be that the finished mobile hard disk is more stable, and most of them are dustproof and waterproof now. In addition, there are many solutions of hard disk box + ssd that cannot be read on iPhone.

@ Anonymous3476 The finished product is not necessarily stable, and the main control may even be the same. It is more about the services provided by the manufacturer, appearance design, and some encryption services. For example, Samsung touch series for example: [SanDisk 4T Liquidation Bug] (https://baijiahao.baidu.com/s?id=1766473891644451538&wfr=spider&for=pc) I can't find this specific case, but I have the impression that it was triggered by a photography blogger on MacBook What we are discussing here is macmini. I won't explore whether the mobile terminal is specifically due to power supply problems or other problems that cannot be read out

How to externalize the data? The data of the software is basically unchangeable. Some people say it is unstable to use soft connections. I just bought a USB hard drive case from Haibis for 236. Is the difference between this and Thunderbolt that it generates heat? I'm struggling whether to install the system externally. Some people say that it's easy to cause problems when updating unstably.

Hard disk case USB4, claimed to be 40G speed

How much is a mobile hard drive running full of usb/thunderbolt 4?
  • Anonymous1273 May 31, 2025
@ Poster # 3 Other hard disk boxes generally use asm2464 in order to pursue a little higher speed, and the JHL7440 controller used by Akasis will have a much lower temperature. For long-term external hard disk boxes, low temperature and high stability are more important than the extra speed. If paired with a cacheless SSD, the temperature can be even lower
  • Anonymous782 May 31, 2025
    @ Anonymous1602 asm2464 is more than 200, and Thunderbolt is about 400
