How to choose MacBook M4 pro and air

Mainly front-end development
Consider air with 24G memory and pro with 16G
Because I only buy one computer as the main machine, I often take it out
The tangle is that
I'm afraid the air performance is not enough... the pro feels too heavy...
There are too few air interfaces and occasionally a converter is needed, but the price is also very good
Does not have a fan really make a big difference?
Because 4k monitors are often connected externally, only the minimum size is required and it doesn't matter whether there is a high refresh rate or not.
The previous top-of-the-line 18-year-old pro is still not stuck, but it is very hot and occasionally stuck when rendering 3D models, but there is rarely such a demand.
I hope it can be used stably for at least 5 years after replacement.
Please recommend 🙏

Anonymous6967 Jun 6, 2025Just air, there is not much difference between 24 and 16, and the perception is not strong for daily use
-
Anonymous78 Jun 6, 2025Front-end development air is enough
-
Anonymous6968 Jun 6, 2025Front-end 24g is not enough. It is often necessary to swap memory. If you use flutter for development, it is best to 32 or 48

Anonymous28 Jun 6, 2025Ask the wallet first. pro if you have money.
-
Anonymous2044 Jun 6, 2025Now 7k9 24 +512 air (PDD national subsidy) For Pro, it is estimated to cost 1w +?
-
Anonymous2047 Jun 6, 2025The pro is really too heavy, so I chose the 24GB air, which is enough.
-
Anonymous6969 Jun 6, 2025The front-end of the web page or the front-end of the app. If the front-end of the app is the air will be directly eliminated, okay?
-
Anonymous6458 Jun 6, 2025I don't know why I go to pro, always air
-
Anonymous1981 Jun 6, 2025If it is a pure web page front-end and does not write the back-end, just go to air, otherwise it is recommended to pro. If you choose pro, don't want 16g (it is better to choose air)

Anonymous373 Jun 6, 2025In fact, it is the most cost-effective to use win on the front end, because there is no ios development requirement, you can use 32g of memory casually, and you must pro for macbook to have 32g of memory Then let's not talk about the front-end. In the AI era, everyone has a full stack, and it's all fixed by N Why don't you use a mini host for an external monitor? macmini is also fine, but it is expensive

Anonymous56 Jun 6, 2025It's because I have to develop ios that I have to go to mac. Guozi's memory and hard drive are really made of gold... 😓

Anonymous7870 Jun 6, 2025Back-end development air is completely sufficient. I have 1 air and 1 pro. I prefer to use air, the pro is too heavy. The only drawback of air for me is that I occasionally have to use the adapter to read the SD card, and typec is occasionally not enough.

Anonymous7871 Jun 6, 2025air First, 16GB is too small. If you open a few more chrome pages, the memory will be 80%, although it is not stuck. Second, the pro is really too heavy. If I can only take one laptop out, I will definitely take air (although my air only has 16GB of memory)

Anonymous7872 Jun 6, 2025What is the main difference between pro and air
-
Anonymous4282 Jun 6, 2025Apart from having a fan or not, the biggest difference between pro and air for me is the screen. The XDR screen of pro is really cool.
-
Anonymous5468 Jun 6, 2025It depends on your memory. I opened Android studio plus cursor with 36G memory, and several java processes will be started. Plus other applications, the memory basically takes up 80%, yellow. I just bought it last year and thought I'd use it for 10 years...

Anonymous6314 Jun 6, 2025@ Anonymous7872 has fan or not, screen quality, external amplifier, etc.

Anonymous353 Jun 6, 2025air does not have long-term CPU high load capacity, so consider it carefully if you work In addition, the more memory, the better. My main work on Mac now is 64G memory. Only in this way can I avoid constant pressure yellow
