In terms of VM running speed, is it faster to run a VM on a NAS or to run a PD on an iMac by putting files on a NAS?

The SSD of imac is only 512. I feel that putting a 50G win10 virtual machine has a low usage rate and is too uneconomical. I thought of two solutions. One is to buy a NAS with virtual machine function and run win10 on the NAS. However, the more popular NAS configurations are not high, and those that can run virtual machines are ugly. Another solution is to put PD's. pvm file is placed on the NAS and run on the computer. Which of these two schemes will be faster? In addition, imac and routing use 5G without network cable, and the display speed is about 500m.

Anonymous10217 Mar 7, 2019@ Poster # 16 Speed is also important... Can you bear to enter the desktop point folder for half a day or get stuck for half a day... In addition, I tried throwing. pvm into a USB flash drive and it was just as slow, but it doesn't rule out that my SanDisk USB flash drive reads garbage... It seems to be more than 100 M/s, I forgot. I feel that throwing it into WTG is still a more reliable way. Anyway, you'll know if you try it... It is still recommended to buy a USB flash drive or SSD that supports WTG. @ Poster # 18 As far as I know, the iMac 2017 model is still very easy to disassemble at present... It's just that the screen is more troublesome and needs to be re-attached. In this case, it's better for you to choose a 128G or 1T hybrid hard disk in the first place, and then disassemble the screen and replace it or install it yourself at the difference price... (I've heard that two hard disks can coexist before, but now I don't know about the 2017 model) It depends on whether you are willing or not... If you don't want to, you can also ask a certain city to help. It costs more than 300 oceans... Just bring your own SSD to replace it. The CPU can also...

Anonymous10217 Mar 7, 2019As for whether it is expensive or not, Apple SSD reading seems to be relatively high-end. Because of this, its price is also proportional to the speed... Look at the Samsung EVO 860 1T, which requires 1600 read and write speeds of about 500M/s. Samsung EVO 970 Pro 1T costs 2799, and the continuous read and write speed result is 2707/2458 MB/s (https://www.expresview.com/61492-2. html) In view of the iMac SSD evaluation, it is also about 2.8 G/s for reading and 2G/s for writing. Can it be compared...

Poster Mar 7, 2019@ Anonymous10217 Thank you. It seems that external ssd is reliable. If you win, I feel that 500M should be enough. 2.8 G is a bit overqualified. I always thought external ssd was too expensive before and I didn't pay attention to it...

Poster Mar 7, 2019@ Anonymous3239 Thank you. I'll go back tonight and see if it can be moved, it should be a good choice to put it on an external ssd. There are also a bunch of samples from kontakt and the timbres are also super large

Anonymous10217 Mar 8, 2019@ Poster # 25 is really enough. My MacBook Air suffers from the fact that 128G is too small, and I also plan to disassemble and replace the EVO 860 256 G (512G is also fine, but I just can't think of any reason to install a 512G in the Air 4G RAM, not to mention I bought an iMac)

Poster Mar 8, 2019@ Anonymous10217 macos system is still faster on his own ssd, but I think win is not commonly used, and the speed of 500M is enough
