How to connect M2 SSD to Thunderbolt 2

by Poster May 2, 2020 5
An iMac at home from the end of 15 is still running a 5400rpm hdd. I couldn't stand it anymore, so I bought an M2 ssd. Unfortunately, I didn't dare to disassemble the phone, so I had to buy a case and connect it to an external ssd. Now there are only USB-C cases online, not Thunderbolt 2 cases. And because this iMac only has Thunderbolt 2, the USB-C interface case can only be connected to the USB interface, up to 500MB/S. This is half the speed of M2... I bought Apple's expensive Thunderbolt 2 to USB-C adapter (£ 49) and Thunderbolt 2 data cable (£ 36). Who knows it can't connect to the USB-C hard drive! That adapter doesn't power! So there is no choice, please give me some advice...

Taobao has tb3 hard disk box, the cheapest is more than 400-500... Buy another second-hand Apple tb2-tb3 mutual patch cable. The tb sets are all pcie protocols, so they are all common..

usb3.0 is also much faster than hdd... If you don't want to make various transfers, usb3.0 is enough for daily use You can also save some money with sata's ssd

500M/s is actually almost the same, and solid-state drives mainly rely on random performance. If you toss again, you will spend high returns and have limited returns.

The economical solution is to buy an ordinary SATA3 disk and a hard disk box that supports UASP. The speed of 500 is enough.

    1. Thunderbolt 3 hard disk box supporting external power supply: about 1800 2. Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 converter: about 300 3. Thunderbolt 2 wire: about 300 The speed can achieve the results you want, and it can also be used as a system boot disk, which generates huge heat
