Please recommend memory sticks

by Poster Jun 12, 2020 21
I plan to buy the latest iMac in the near future. There are the following considerations 1. Is it a good date to buy, because I seem to have seen a post saying that a new iMac will be released, removing the large bezel and removing the fusion hard disk, but I originally planned to upgrade the hard disk to full SSD when I bought it. 2. Memory: I plan to buy an 8G one, and then buy 16 ❎ 4 memory modules and replace them myself. * Do you have any recommendations? *

iMac inventory is currently low, and 9to5Mac sees this as a precursor to the release of a new Mac at WWDC Can you wait? There are still 10 days before the meeting

@ Anonymous766 Hmm. That's true, but I don't know when I can buy it even if I announce it. The main reason is that I am changing to a new job, and the company will assign it. If I wait too long, my work will be delayed. And the price is estimated to be very expensive, and it will not be good if it exceeds the budget given by the company. 🤔 ️

Correct solution on the 1st floor

@ Poster belongs to the company anyway, don't buy it yourself, don't have to wait

@ Poster # 4 Yes, the type of notebook. Please refer to which year you bought the machine for frequency. Maybe the new iMac will be updated recently ~

The price of the full SSD option is a scam, and you can only pinch your nose. Judging from the recent MacBook Pro upgrade, most new iMacs will increase the quantity of SSD without increasing the price For our previous memory, we always chose 8G (2x4G was given) and then bought two more 8G units and plugged them into 24G (we don't have a greater demand at present). You can actually buy any brand. The official said it is Yingruida (that is, Micron), anyway, we can only use DDR4 2666, we all look at which one is cheaper, Samsung, Kingston, and ADATA

I think if the new model is really like that, the memory and SSD will probably be soldered to the motherboard
  • Poster Jun 12, 2020
@ Anonymous4801 If it is really soldered dead, the memory will be a little damaged. For the hard disk, I originally wanted all ssd, so I dare not replace this myself. If the memory can't be replaced, I might as well buy a 19-year-old one. It's too cost-effective to replace the memory myself

Samsung, Crucial, Corsair, just don't get petty gains

Ultra-thin = soldered dead. Don't you know what Apple's ultra-thin means? Even the upgradable hard drive of mac mini is gone. Can imac escape Apple's knife skill?

Nowadays, it is difficult to upgrade by yourself, but it is no problem to pay someone to upgrade. Both SSD and memory can be replaced, but it is more troublesome The next generation is likely to be all soldered dead. The SSD of the mac mini is soldered dead, but the memory can be replaced. I don't think the next generation should let users change memory

@ Anonymous373 I am a doctoral student and usually do integrated circuit research in ultra-clean rooms. There is also a workshop in the department, and there are all kinds of machine tools and heat guns. Apple's products are designed for me. They know that customers have these environments and equipment. It takes minutes to change chips and plant balls. Green Alliance broke my computer and I also have an oscilloscope to check the timing. I think Apple's products are really good! (manual dog head

@ Anonymous5367 The yin and yang weirdness is boring. Apple has a t2 chip. I don't know what functions to add to the next generation to disgust you. For example, this generation of macpro2019 must leave an original ssd, otherwise it will not be able to boot the system If Green Alliance is not good, you can use more expensive ones, but I have always insisted that computer manufacturers should leave margin for all kinds of things. You can't ask everyone to plug in Apple-certified products, nor can you ask customers to follow a long list. Users just plug in and unplug whenever they want.

Both Samsung and Hynix are available, try to choose a 32G single.
  • Anonymous3602 Jun 14, 2020
    Has the ability to 32 * 2, or 32 * 4.
  • Poster Jun 14, 2020
@ Anonymous3602 It's the first time I've seen 32 single items. Is there any explanation? Will it help to upgrade later? But I looked at the official website and it said that the upper limit is 64g
  • Anonymous3602 Jun 15, 2020
@ Poster can actually use 128G memory, because there was no 32G single memory at that time
