Can iMac be used as an external monitor?

I read reviews that the iPad can be connected to the iMac and used as an external monitor. I already have a Windows computer. Can it be connected to the iMac and used as a monitor through Type-C? Or can it be done through the adapter?

The previous iMac was ok, but since the 5K screen was installed, the bandwidth of the 5K screen is too large

Very old ones are okay, but you need to buy 2 Thunderbolt cables. They are expensive. If you connect them, there will be some minor problems. They will not work for several generations later

No, the new iMac doesn't have the old Target mode anymore. "Sidebar" uses the iPad as the second display of the Mac, It's really stupid to cut off the existing functions when I arrive at the iMac.

It seems that if you have this demand, you still have to buy a Mac mini

Whose review is it? Isn't this nonsense? Pull it out and let everyone block it

In fact, Apple can do it, but it just doesn't want to do it. The type-c/Thunderbolt 3 interface has been laid out so well, is it so difficult to add a function?
