Confused whether to buy a Mac mini with a 27-inch screen or a 24-inch iMac

I have been using a 27-inch iMac in the company. I am forced to take off even if my MBP at home turns on a PS. I am thinking of changing to a device with an M1 chip. However, the iMac currently only has a 24-inch iMac. Will it be much smaller than the 27-inch iMac? Can you buy a 27-inch screen with the same quality as Apple with a budget of 5,000?

Just putting an iMac desktop will be much simpler.

I don't know anything else, but it is still difficult to buy a monitor comparable to a mac for 5,000 yuan (functionally), but if you require screen quality, you can look at Hongxia on Taobao, which is considered the better among domestic DIY monitors.

I use a combination of mac mini + screens at home. The reasons are: 1) The screen purchased separately can be used for other purposes, such as connecting Switch to play games and apple tv to watch TV; 2) I feel that the screen is more durable. Maybe when upgrading two rounds of mac mini, the screen does not need to be updated; 3) In special circumstances, the mac mini can be packed in a bag and taken to other places, which is also more convenient; 4) I had struggled before and went to the physical store to look at the iMac 24-inch. Personally, I didn't think it looked good.

    If it's a 24-inch iMac, I don't think it's as good as M1 MBP + ultrafine4k, and I'm in this combination now.

I think a big problem with imac monitors is glare. When I used to use imac, I was always in a daze because I saw things behind me. Hey! I think you can buy BenQ's u-series monitor for 5k. The color rendering is not bad. I think it mainly prevents glare and it is quite good. It can also display a vertical screen. In terms of color, the value that BenQ monitor can adjust is quite large. Sometimes, if the printing color is set, it is quite close to the printing color, because the gray color seen in normal mode is the same as black when seen in printing mode, and it is also black when typed. For reference only

Be bearable and wait for the 27-inch imac

I am a mac mini m1 with u2720qm. I feel very cool personally.. To be honest, the mac mini does not take up much more space than the imac, and the configuration is higher after all

Summarize the current mix imac 24 mac mini + monitor mbp + display The range of monitors to choose from is relatively large. How will you choose?

@ Anonymous4751 I would directly choose the 27-sized one, the big one will definitely be comfortable at home!

imac 24: Advantages, good screen quality; Disadvantages, poor expansion, the screen cannot be used as an external monitor mac mini + monitor: advantages, strong performance, strong expansion; Disadvantages, not portable

If you use it for a long time, buy an iMac. I buy a mini just for the transition

24 inches is still small, not big enough

Buy an iMac with an ultrafine monitor, I feel better than a 27

Currently it is a mac mini m1 + 27-inch monitor, waiting for the 27 + imac to be replaced

ps still needs a lot of memory. Previous iMacs added it to 32g by themselves. Now the memory of m1 is too small, so I can't plug it in by myself. It's better to wait for September m1x.

iMac belongs to buying a monitor and giving a computer, otherwise it will wait.

Just as entangled as the original poster. I went to the store to have a look. There is still a big gap between 24-inch and 27-inch, but the 4.5 K screen is much more comfortable than the 4K screen. I haven't used a 27-inch one, so I can accept a 24-inch one more. Because I don't have a monitor, but when I buy a mini, I need both 4K and a magic keyboard, and maybe a docking station + hard drive. I originally wanted to save money on high-end configurations, but I ended up spending more haha ~ So I got the iMac in one step. If you think 24 inches are small, just wait for next year's 32 inches, which is said to be 32 inches...
