Are you using the default resolution or more space?

As we all know, iMac has a scaled resolution by default, so the content that can be accommodated on the screen will be much less. However, changing to more space will theoretically increase resource consumption and affect performance. I want to know which performance piece is affected by this piece? CPU? GPU? Or memory? In addition to the smaller UI, I think it's quite good to have more space, making effective use of screen area and resolution. So I want to ask everyone what their usage habits are?

Larger font... Is it because of age

The iMac is the most comfortable by default. Then it was much larger by default at 27-inch 4K, so it was changed to the second gear.

14 inches, default. More space is too small, another too big

I always have larger fonts and my 27-inch monitor also seems to be 1080p

27-inch 5K, default. In the past, the 27-inch 4K monitor was also the default, but the space was slightly smaller.

Always using the default, just changed to more space and seems pretty good

27-inch doesn't need more space, laptops need more

Select the default, more space words are too small, and the default looks comfortable.

    13-inch, zoom, 1280x800

The built-in monitor uses more space, and the scaling selected for the external monitor is similar to that of 2K. It feels just like the default 1080 for the external 4K monitor. It feels that the words are too big

27 inches, the characters are too small by default, it seems that I am an elderly person

For 5k iMac, the best zoom should be equivalent to 2560 * 1440. In fact, the content is not too small. When I use a 4k monitor, the default effect is equivalent to 1920 * 1080, and the content is a bit scarce, so I switched to the second gear and used it, which is equivalent to 2560 * 1440.

The resolution is turned up and the words are too small. So it's usually the default, and it's the same for both built-in and external monitors.

16 inch m1 on default.. Perfect 200% scaling.

1080 space is too small, 2560 * 1440 words are too small, my favorite is 2048 * 1152, 27 'iMac chooses this resolution, which has enough space, and most software font sizes are just right. Still old after all...

    MBP 13-inch use 1280 * 800

@ Anonymous7763 How to adjust to the custom resolution you mentioned? The options are fixed and only a few gears can be selected.
