How do I update my Apple Watch's cardio fitness data?

by Poster Jun 2, 2024 24
Original text in the manual: Apple Watch can record the estimated maximum oxygen uptake when you are walking quickly, hiking or running outdoors. < br > < br > The question is, can I update my aerobic fitness only by doing other exercises? Equipment like rowing machines

I don't know anything else, but running can be updated. Anyway, I don't go running. The aerobic Fitness in my Health app only drops but does not rise, and the maximum oxygen uptake of Fitness and the aerobic Fitness of Health don't seem to be the same thing. The two values are different for me. The maximum oxygen uptake of Fitness is 43, the aerobic Fitness of Health is 45.5, and the maximum oxygen uptake estimated by Garmin Connect is 49, which is very happy.

The bike can't be updated anyway

    I run will update anyway

No, apple watch calculates this thing based on gps data, so theoretically all indoor equipment will not work

@ Anonymous11276 # 5 Correct, and the outdoors are too small. For example, if you walk in your own yard, it will not recognize it after a while (the time is not included in the Third Ring Road)

The vo2max of the watch is actually basically the same as the entertainment master on the computer, and none of them are accurate. The key is that different people compare laboratory test results with different smart devices, and the main one is high and low, and there is no rule. After all, according to statistical data, the data estimated by a specific formula, how many people just grow on the line of data fitting? Basically, at present, my watch, no matter which brand, is basically the most reliable ones related to health are heart rate and blood oxygen. It focuses on long-term continuous monitoring. If I run at variable speed or train intervals, I will still wear a heart rate belt. The same is true of body fat scales, one by one, in fact, the most important thing is to weigh the body. The most valuable function is to provide historical records and synchronize them with Apple Health. Just look at other body fat percentage and bone mass.

    Walking, running

Personally, the VO2 Max given by Apple Watch through outdoor activities is somewhat meaningful. I have never been to a laboratory test, but I have done a Cooper Test before, which is to estimate the VO2 Max by the longest distance run in 12 minutes. The value given by Apple Watch is about 5% different (the value given by Apple Watch is slightly lower). In addition, I have started running again in the past six months, and the trend of VO2 Max has been upward. So overall it is quite valuable for reference.

It should be that you can see that the maximum oxygen uptake is updated by turning on physical training several times in the watch. Outdoor sports turned on by sports like Keep don't seem to update the oxygen uptake (but it can be counted in 3 rings). But running outdoors depends too much on my mood, so I use AW's outdoor walk to update my maximum oxygen uptake every day during the 1km walk from the parking lot to the office.

Only regular foot movement can be estimated, so equipment and ball games can't be calculated. Because VO2MAX is also measured by running in the laboratory, and if you do equipment exercise, he can't estimate the activity intensity of your upper body according to the model. Running is the most accurate estimation, followed by hiking and outdoor walking. If you walk for a long distance without exercise, it will automatically trigger the calculation update.

Only these three items can be detected. If walking outdoors many times is still not possible, you need a long-distance high-intensity outdoor walk, at least 1 hour's heart rate comes up, and there will be data after walking outdoors, running and hiking

    1. Outdoor sports 2. Aerobic exercise 3. More than 20 minutes
  • Anonymous10972 Jun 3, 2024
Without actively recording exercise, whether exercise is included in the exercise ring or not does not consider the exercise displacement, but the heart rate

Rowing is ok, use the sports that comes with the watch-> Rowing
  • Anonymous11279 Jun 3, 2024
Choosing outdoor running will almost always be updated, no indoor running, no swimming, no rowing for about 20 minutes

No hiking. The front desk has just hiked for 6 hours and the aerobic fitness has not been updated. It will be updated for running every day and for brisk walking every day. I walk briskly for more than 20 minutes at noon and run for about an hour at night. I update twice a day to show the average

Anyway, I did update the data after riding a bicycle outdoors. At the same time, combined with the documentation, I guess that there are several conditions: outdoor (with gps), certain intensity, and certain time. @ Anonymous12386 # 18 Necessary insufficient condition

To produce displacement, maintain a certain intensity for a certain period of time, and it is the type of movement supported by Apple watch
