iPad pro or mbp?

After remoting most computing resources, I found that computers don't need that good performance. I decided to abandon the desktop completely.
I just need to paint, so wacom is a must. No matter how bad the notebook is, it also comes with a touch screen. However, after using several generations of win notebooks (toshiba sony Lenovo), I found that they are all connected to electricity and cannot be portable. This is the flaw of win.
Then I also used mbp, but there is no touch control, and I have to connect to wacom externally. The 24-inch Xindi is bloated. I sold it and replaced it with dtk1661. Now the 1661 is also sold because the three-in-one line is too bloated. I tested kanvas16, typec, but it seems that the power supply is unstable and always disconnected. I returned it after 2 days of use.
I really don't want to mess with so many peripherals, so I don't want to use mbp either. Now I still use the first generation of ipad pro + pencil. Although the hardware is ancient, it is basically usable, and the ones that encounter a card are also real cards. So I thought I had to upgrade it.
Re-use mbp + kanvas? Or ipad pro in one step?
As a productivity force, the ipad pro should be used for editing, design, drawing, music and programming without much problem. Can the current ipad take all aspects?
It seems that there is no point in pursuing the top configuration of mbp. Anyway, it can't run any model. If it really wants to produce, it needs an rtx server. Therefore, battery life and lightness have become the first elements. Is it better to ipad directly? I just don't know if ipad can completely replace desktop computers and notebooks.
The only concern is the external monitor. How many 4k screens can the ipad connect to? I have to work with two linkage units at 16: 9 +21: 9.

The official website writes a single screen, up to 6K 60Hz, if you have to have two external screens, forget it https://www.apple.com/ipad-pro/specs/"Supports one external display with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz"

It's not a big problem if you have all the apps you want to use. Anyway, don't believe any manufacturer saying that an app will be on the iPad in the future. It may be dragged on and disappear or have a castrated version. Also, the file system is a bit painful for PC users If you think clearly about programming, you don't need to run the code locally. There is really no essential difference between Mac and iPad remotely. This generation of second keyboard is really good

Anonymous46 Jun 24, 2024Ah, the iPad Pro can actually be programmed? As far as I know, most remote development now uses vs code. How can I program remotely without vscode? Open a terminal and use vim? In addition, the iPad Pro can only be connected to an external monitor, and it is necessary to use a docking station, otherwise the battery life will be directly insufficient. In fact, it is neither light nor battery life.

Anonymous5589 Jun 24, 2024@ Anonymous46 iPad Pro is programmed remotely via VS code. Need a server to run vscode, and the official tunnel or ssh link is provided The iPad directly visits http://vscode.dev/, log in to the account, and you can program remotely. Some plugins don't work, but most do, including copilot. I tried it and it feels reliable. The main problem is network latency. The experience is definitely not as good as programming natively on a Mac, but it works. See details https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/remote/remote-overview

Anonymous5589 Jun 24, 2024What's wrong with @ Anonymous46? If you need the server side (such as big data), there is actually not much difference If you are used to local development, it is really not so convenient

Anonymous9223 Jun 25, 2024mbp There are quite a lot of productivity problems on iPad, and even copying and pasting between basic apps may cause problems.

Anonymous10564 Jun 25, 2024The iPad Pro cannot be used as a productivity tool unless it is for video cutting (even if there are many software for video cutting, it does not support it..) or writing text or drawing. Of course, I have this device (stacked armor) in my hand, mainly for watching feeds/videos. mbp is also available, please note that you must buy M1 and above. The difference is too great.

Anonymous10564 Jun 25, 2024By the way, spit on Cook.. MBP is already M4. If you install a mac system, it will sell crazy. If you are afraid of squeezing the mac market, you just don't add it

Anonymous8825 Jun 25, 2024Your next computer has to be a computer, ipad pro and mac I have ipad for productivity is a joke, unless it's just a light office like text

Anonymous46 Jun 25, 2024@ Anonymous5589 I don't know how you use it, but if I usually use VSCode for remote development, I will open several workspaces, and then there will be some interaction with local files, and I will also open some other software such as browsers, PDF, documents. It is theoretically not impossible to implement it all through the iPad browser, but I personally think it is not reliable

Anonymous12212 Jun 25, 2024I have also deployed remote development services, but as far as I have used them, it is still more suitable for doing some light programming and word processing during meetings and business trips. When using the main machine, it still feels incomparable to mbp. My positioning is still mobile office

Anonymous2377 Jun 25, 2024However, if there is a tangle between these two products, I still recommend mbp. ipad pro has more advantages (painting, notes) in scenarios where a pen is needed. If there is a demand for this, it is worth considering. Otherwise, the experience of using mbp will be better at this stage. Even if it is a light office codeword ipad with a keyboard, it is not necessarily much lighter than a computer, or I think it is possible to buy the old ipad pro + mbp with the same budget? The ipad with m1 chip also feels very useful

Anonymous13453 Jun 25, 20241. mbp 2. mbp plus iPad pro 3. Buy iPad pro first and then it's not easy to do computer work, and then buy mbp

Anonymous8044 Jun 25, 2024Can the external 16: 9 4K screen of iPad be full screen? Why can I only display it at 4: 3

Poster Jun 25, 2024Later, consider the copilot pc of NPU, which has battery life beyond mbp, real-time support of ai, touch control, and basic video editing (I can only say that it is usable, don't think about smoothness.) If there is a drawing need, temporarily open a gpu server to solve the problem. It should not be a big problem. It's actually quite troublesome for multiple computers to care about synchronizing data. Of course, it's set up once and for all.

Anonymous12213 Jun 25, 2024If you want to draw and take notes outside productivity or mbp, sometimes efficiency issues. Light office (office three-piece set or wps) has modest problems, such as the inconvenience of adjusting the font and font size format, and the code is almost 0. After all, the simulator cannot run. iPad pro is convenient for handwriting and keyboard input (on the premise of a magic keyboard), and focuses on flexibility, which mbp has not compared with

Anonymous8944 Jun 25, 2024After reading it, I feel that I can wait a little longer, maybe there will be a tablet/2-in-1 equipped with x elite At present, wacom officially does not have a Windows on ARM driver, but if the product itself supports a pen (such as Samsung), you can use it

Anonymous2392 Jun 26, 2024I think the biggest problem with iPad doing multitasking and heavy lifting is still jetsam; Even the M-series chip 8G memory cannot be avoided; The program was killed by jetsam after being put in the background for a while, and the content was gone. It's not a one-time occurrence; Sometimes I use a larger app and then all the Safari web pages in the background have to be refreshed and there is no content...
