In 2024, will people who use Mac Mini as routers share their experiences?

There is a Mac Mini at home that is not used by anyone. The configuration is not bad, so I want to use it myself.
Apart from being used as a router, I didn't expect a good usage scenario (relatively speaking).
I searched around a lot of related topics, but there are many old posts.
Can any v friends who are still using Mac Mini as routers come out and share their plans and experience?

Anonymous3327 Sep 5, 2024Pure routing feels like a false requirement. Wouldn't it be better to sell it second-hand and buy a hard router or soft router with better compatibility?

Anonymous2045 Sep 5, 2024Free clashxpro can be implemented, but this software is no longer updated. The scheme can be found as soon as you search.

Anonymous1716 Sep 5, 2024I have been using Mac as bypass for several years. I used ClashX at first, and then switched to surge. Both are stable in use. The experience is more stable and easier to use than using router proxy directly before

Poster Sep 5, 2024@ Anonymous1716 What's the fuck? Just run Clash on the Mini and then turn on LAN access?
-
Anonymous10350 Sep 5, 2024@ Poster There is no solution to this, the setting of surge itself is simple and clear, and the network structure depends on your own needs

Anonymous1716 Sep 5, 2024@ Poster Simply, install clash or surge on the Mac, turn on the enhanced mode, and then manually set the gateway and DNS settings to the Mac in the network settings of the device that needs to be overturned (relevant software has operation prompts). If the router supports it, you can also set up a set of networks, directly use the Mac as a third-party gateway, and then connect the devices that need to climb over the wall to this network. The result is the same as above, except that the trouble of setting up client devices separately is avoided. If you don't just want some devices to climb over the wall like me, you can also turn on the DHCP service of surge, and then they will all take over

Anonymous2157 Sep 5, 2024@ Poster # 6 It's this one, and it's a normal bypass when equipped. There is no special configuration. Just turn on the enhanced mode, then point the gateway of the required device to the Mac Mini, and configure the dns to 198.18. 0.2. For details, please refer to the Surge wizard

Anonymous10353 Sep 20, 2024Mac mini: Run Surge enhanced mode AdGuard Home (IPv4 a.b.c.d): Do DNS diversion, suitable for domestic direct connection domain names to be forwarded to the router for resolution, and those that require proxy are forwarded to 198.18. 0.2 for resolution Router: 1. Routing table added 198.18. 0.0/15 Next Jump to Mac mini 2. LAN IPv4 DHCP delivery DNS is a.b.c.d 3. LAN IPv6 delivery DNS is:: ffff: a.b.c.d (the past v6 address from v4 map, because the v6 link-local address of AdGuard Home will change) 4. If necessary, add Telegram ASN to the routing table and skip to Mac mini. Benefits: 1. If you won't access everything, use the address starting with 198.18 returned by Surge, otherwise some services will have problems (for example, SMB speed will be extremely slow) 2. It can reduce the pressure of the Surge, and the large flow in the wall will not pass through the Mac mini directly 3. If Surge explodes, the contents in the wall can still be accessed normally
