I don't understand. Those who say that the mac doesn't need to be shut down don't heat up?

From win to mac, macmini m4 has been using high intensity for half a year, but the problem of sleep fever has not been solved. The standby temperature can reach more than 60 degrees. I connected macmini to a Xiaomi socket, and the sleep power consumption is higher than normal use. Can you stand this? At the beginning, I also searched the Internet for solutions. What software to watch power consumption should not be used, what settings prevent automatic sleep, what activity monitor checks which program consumes power, etc. Basically, I have used all kinds of methods. Usually, I just turn on the Mijia plug to see how much power it consumes. There is no accident. It is completely metaphysical. It depends purely on your mood. There is no pattern. The power consumption will be low and high. And the most important thing is the problem of memory leakage. The windowsever doesn't shut down for a few days, which directly occupies several g memory. I have seen no less than ten posts on windowsever in the station, but there is no solution. Don't ask, ask is restart. Since you have nothing to do, it's better to shut down when you don't use it. Apple users are really adaptable. Speaking of which, I have to complain about homepod by the way. Let's talk about macmini. Since last week, I turn it off every time I use it. I give up the bad habit of looking at power consumption when I have nothing to do. The body is cold, and it is easy and stress-free to touch when I turn it on. How to use it comfortably. If there is any means to solve the problems of heating and memory leakage, I would still like to leave it unshuttered. The key point is that these two problems are very common. I have seen on the Internet that not only macmini, but also mac studio and MacBook are available. I can only say that there are many unsatisfactory places in macos.

I don't sleep, because it's annoying that the monitor turns on itself again after I often click on sleep. So now I just turn off the monitor and finish it. I don't click on the sleep temperature. Anyway, it's cold to my touch now. As for the memory, I haven't paid attention to it, so it doesn't affect me

I bought the new one a few years ago, but it starts to heat up after three years of use

I'm a little curious, don't you look at the actual memory of the windowserver process? For example, I have 1.59 GB of RAM now and 200MB of actual RAM.

The sleep wake-up program has been checked and there is nothing suspicious? I was thinking about getting a mac mini M4 for fun now that the national subsidy is good However, my old MacBook often consumes power quickly when it is closed, but it can keep power for a long time when it is shut down

(default: dev) ➜ ~ uptime 22:42 up 143 days, 23:37, 5 users, load averages: 2.75 2.66 2.62 Not only Mac, but also Linux doesn't need to be shut down. I also have a Linux development machine on ubuntu desktop, which only shuts down when there is a power outage.

I haven't paid attention to the power consumption, and I don't deliberately not shut down the phone, because I know that it will sleep when the lid is closed. In the 10 years of using the mac, I remember that it became abnormally hot in the bag twice after closing the lid. After restarting, it was fine

Whether my mac desktop or notebook, it hasn't been shut down for several years, and there is no problem at all. The 15-model MacBook Pro is now fully charged and thrown at home. If it doesn't move for a month or two, it will lose 20-30% of its battery. I struggled with the windowsever thing for a while. Later, I found that it stopped moving at 3G, and it would be recycled when the memory pressure was high. So leave it alone. It is recommended to check if any applications are sneaking away, otherwise the power supply is broken, and there must be something wrong with the standby at 60 degrees.

macbook air m1 never shuts down except for system update and restart, and I haven't paid attention to the heating problem, so there is no problem

You can see what application wakes you up while sleeping. Your phenomenon doesn't seem to be a common problem: # Query the log of waking up while sleeping Pmset-g log grep DarkWake

The problem is that it is so hot in standby mode, which proves that there is a program running all the time, and it is still the kind with continuous high intensity

The last mbp I used also had memory leakage, and it didn't restart for a week until the mouse pointer dropped frames

Except for the system upgrade, it didn't actively shut down the machine, and there was no inexplicable heat when the lid was closed...

You may not be normal. Look at the energy consumption, which one is higher.
  • Anonymous10146 May 23, 2025
Are there peripherals preventing sleep? The notebook is normal. To be honest, the Macbook is the complete product, and other unofficial peripherals have some compatibility problems. This is where apple is uncomfortable

Never turn off the phone, close the lid and come home from work

The mbp with 64g memory occasionally suddenly gets very stuck. It usually does not shut down. When it gets stuck, restart it

Whether it is the original mac2020 or the current mac14pro, it has never been turned off.

I usually turn it off once a week, but now I haven't turned it off for about four days. I checked that the windowserver occupies 700m, is it okay?
