Is it a good choice to get an iMac 2017 at the end of 2018?

Now I have the idea of eliminating the previously assembled desktop computers and monitors and going back to my hometown, and upgrading them to iMac with writing code. However, the cook didn't upgrade the iMac series before. I don't know if the iMac series will be updated next year. Now I'm more entangled about whether I will join the national army in 49 years. There is also an alternative, Mac mini high-end + Dell U2718Q, the price is not beautiful and there are too many wires (otherwise I wouldn't think about eliminating desktop computers).
Now the general plan is:
-iMac 27 5K (Medium)
-Mac mini premium + Dell U2718Q
ps: Desktop + MBP13 + Dell U2515 on hand now
Please give me some suggestions (better wake me up >. <

Poster Dec 16, 2018@ Anonymous166 Personally, I still prefer small boxes. Generally speaking, I still prefer to wait half a year subjectively

Anonymous10262 Dec 16, 2018There is no independent graphics 4K stuck to explode

Anonymous1568 Dec 16, 2018Doesn't it feel like Launchpad cards are universal.. It feels like it has nothing to do with performance, right?

Anonymous157 Dec 16, 2018@ Anonymous160 Well, I have no way to verify this problem for the time being. I am currently using a 2k monitor, and I haven't found any stuck and performance issues.

Anonymous160 Dec 16, 2018@ Anonymous157 # 24 2K resolution is indeed fine. I have an Iris core display MBP, but it still doesn't get stuck after connecting 2K forced HiDPI rendering.

Anonymous1560 Dec 16, 2018@ Anonymous165 # 17 supports 5k, just bad graphics performance

Anonymous1569 Dec 16, 2018I've been using imac 2017 for a year. The 5k screen is great, but it's really painful not to be used as an external display. It's better to buy a good screen and add a mac mini

Anonymous11013 Dec 16, 2018In fact, you can consider buying an Intel NUC black apple plus a good screen. There was a recent review by Snazzy Labs on YouTube.

Anonymous1571 Dec 16, 2018The mac mini is not the same level of price as the iMac 27, right?..

Anonymous1572 Dec 17, 2018@ Anonymous1569 iMac doesn't support extended screen?!

Anonymous1573 Dec 17, 20188 gigabytes of memory is too small. If you want to buy it, you can do it in one step
-
Anonymous45 Dec 17, 2018I'm gonna wait half a year. It will take several years to buy it, so there is no need to be so urgent

Anonymous10262 Dec 17, 2018@Anonymous157 Driving 3 4k monitors at the same time, there is nothing wrong with each monitor being stuck into PPT. Only said support didn't say smooth ah... Actually, let alone 3 4K.. I feel stuck when I use one 4K, so I honestly buy iMac or MacBook Pro series Mini without independent graphics is basically the same as 4K Say Bye Bye

Anonymous1574 Dec 17, 2018@ Anonymous160 It's not a nuclear display, it's a resolution issue. 4k screen replacement with the highest resolution and the first and second zooms, no lag at all, personal test

Anonymous1575 Dec 17, 2018I think it'll be better later

Anonymous20 Dec 17, 2018On the mac mini, the performance of the high-end i7 8700 is better than that of the top 12 cores in the trash can, and you can add the memory yourself
-
Anonymous1576 Dec 17, 2018I just bought the 27-inch top version, and the memory is increased to 40G. Anyway, it's very cool to use. I was a bit confused at first, but for writing code and ordinary photo editing, the current performance is completely enough

Poster Dec 17, 2018@ Anonymous1576 If you connect another 4K, is it a big problem?

Anonymous1577 Dec 17, 2018I would like to ask you, compared with i5-8400 8500 and R5 2600x, which one is more suitable for development?
