Is it a good choice to get an iMac 2017 at the end of 2018?

Now I have the idea of eliminating the previously assembled desktop computers and monitors and going back to my hometown, and upgrading them to iMac with writing code. However, the cook didn't upgrade the iMac series before. I don't know if the iMac series will be updated next year. Now I'm more entangled about whether I will join the national army in 49 years. There is also an alternative, Mac mini high-end + Dell U2718Q, the price is not beautiful and there are too many wires (otherwise I wouldn't think about eliminating desktop computers).
Now the general plan is:
-iMac 27 5K (Medium)
-Mac mini premium + Dell U2718Q
ps: Desktop + MBP13 + Dell U2515 on hand now
Please give me some suggestions (better wake me up >. <

Anonymous1580 Dec 17, 2018Yes, if you already have a monitor, you must buy the 2018 new top-of-the-line MINI. The iMac is not considered a pure SSD either. Compared with the top mini, the monitor occupies a large part.

Anonymous1581 Dec 17, 2018If you are just writing code, you can consider buying a new air. You can also connect an external 4k monitor at home or in the office, and you can bring it anywhere, which is more convenient. imac must at least have a hybrid hard drive, otherwise the speed of hdd will be too slow.
