iMac doesn't need to be shut down either

by Poster Nov 25, 2020 41
Before, the iMac was turned off when it was not in use (I used to think about being like MBP every time the box cover). Recently, I forgot to turn off the iMac when I went out for a week. I came back and continued to use it. When I was not in use, I continued to sleep without any impact. * * In addition to worrying about accidental power outages at home, there is no need to shut down the phone 365 days a year... * *

Desktop computers consume a lot of power, so it will save power when turned off … … … … …

It's just for personal convenience. There is also no data to show that not shutting down can prolong the life of hardware better than shutting down, so why not shutting down? It just saves boot time for individuals.

The company's iMac, except for the system update and restart, turning off the plug-in strip before a long holiday, never shut down at other times After watching uptime for dozens of days, I feel a fascinating sense of accomplishment...

@ Anonymous2154 I remember seeing on the official website that the power consumption in the sleep state is less than 7 watts (I can't remember clearly), so it shouldn't be a big problem.

The company's iMac shuts down every day. Because the company regulates to shut down https://i.v2ex.co/504J5BO2. png. Anyway, it boots up very quickly, so I don't care. Moreover, I feel that there are a lot of bugs in macOS now, and it is smoother to use it after rebooting it every day. It may be my psychological effect. https://i.v2ex.co/oJ951Htz.jpeg

Occasionally it still needs to be shut down or restarted There's nothing we can do if there's a power outage

The macmini still has to be shut down. I have encountered several bugs that can ssh but the screen cannot wake up

@ Anonymous9823 My experience is that it needs to be restarted once a week. As long as the virtual memory uses 10G, it will start to get stuck

The company's win10 never shuts down or restarts. It will automatically restart every update, so you don't need to worry about it yourself

Black fruit, never shut down, what you want is to tap the keyboard at any time to wake up the pleasure of using it at any time

Why not? Solid state boots quickly

@ Anonymous6052 The boot speed is not fast. When I used a PC a few years ago, the boot speed of Windows was faster than that of macOS

@ Anonymous6052 # 18 If you want to work, you have to start a wave of programs and adjust the position of a batch of windows. Is there any good plan?
