It's not a battle, just compare apple/Huawei/Garmin watches

I'm a fitness practitioner. I first bought a watch to exercise and lose weight: * I entered Garmin fenix3 in 15 years, and used it for more than 4 years * Switched to Apple Watch 4 in 2019 and used it until last year * I changed to AW9 at the beginning of this year and used it for several months * During this period, I briefly changed to Garmin 225 and Huawei Watch GT Runner * Huawei Watch GT3 Pro used in the last 2 months * Switched back to Garmin 255 today It just so happens that each brand uses at least 2 watches. Let's briefly compare some aspects that I care more about: * Battery life: Huawei GT series and Garmin are sufficient (more than a week), and AW is basically stable and charged once a day. * Smart: AW > Huawei > Garmin * Sports: Garmin > AW > Huawei * Accessories: AW straps, like other Apple products, are so rich that they can't pick from them, while Garmin and Huawei are relatively few * Wearing: 255 is as light as nothing when worn, fenix3 is heavy, Huawei GT3Pro is big, thick and heavy, AW is between 2 To summarize: Jiaming is a traditional watch with specialized sports and health functions. The only thing that has something to do with smart watches is the notification and reminder function, which is suitable for users who like sports and don't need the complicated functions of watches; AW is still the first choice for iPhone users. It has too many functions, smooth operation and powerful computing power, which is completely unmatched by other watches. But in terms of sports professionalism, I don't think it's very good, and there are many shortcomings: running loses heart rate, exercise reminder machinery (regardless of human function at all, recovery time, only mindlessly reminds exercise every day, and creates higher goals), data sharing relies on iOS ecosystem; There is also the battery life slot. I have never used the smart Pro series of Huawei, but the sports-oriented GT series (large bracelet). Subjectively speaking, even Huawei's flagship watch is not as good as the iPhone + AW. The biggest drawback is that it relies on Huawei Sports Health. This APP has so many advertisements as psoriasis, which makes you don't want to open it at all. The user experience can be said to be very uncomfortable. For me, I like the silky experience of iPhone + AW, but charging really dissuades me. I don't wear my watch at night and charge it. Sometimes after exercising for a while in the morning, only 30% of the battery is left in the afternoon. Battery anxiety is really difficult. Coupled with the basic mobile phone, it is rare to operate the watch for a long time and frequently. Therefore, no matter how good its performance is, how smooth the system is, and how powerful its functions are, it is difficult to get a "pleasant" experience on such a small screen. Isn't it good for me to play with my mobile phone? So after using AW9 for a few months, I replaced it with Huawei GT3Pro with better battery life. After using it for a few more months, I was very annoyed by Huawei's sports and health advertisements. I happened to see the promotion of Garmin 255 and directly switched back to Garmin. I feel okay so far, notification reminder + exercise is just what I need (other functions are basically none), coupled with the light wearing experience, I hope I can exercise and keep fit well

The biggest advantage of AW is its ecology, and the biggest shortcoming can barely be made up by Ultra, which can be made up for every two days. It has many health functions but not enough, such as Garmin's stress indicator, but the ecology can make up for it. Stress indicators are mainly calculated based on HRV. The App Store provides similar functions such as Athlyic, Training Today, and Gentler Streak. There are comparative reviews of these apps on YT. I use all these apps, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. If more than two apps remind me that I need to take a break, then I do have to take a break. I quite agree with someone upstairs that the biggest advantage of AW is the data center of Apple Health. As long as the health data provided by AW is enough and accurate, third-party apps can use these data to visualize your various physical indicators, and their functions are only much more than those of professional watches like Garmin. But whether it is accurate or not depends on whether the data collected by AW itself is accurate enough. Of course, if you can't use/don't want to use a watch to monitor your physical condition, then almost all sports watches are useless, just buy a good-looking one

There is a similar index on @ Anonymous8568 apple watch: heart rate variability (HRV). This is usually tens of milliseconds to about one hundred, and the lowest can reach single digits when you feel unwell. The "pressure index" displayed by other brands of watches is another expression of this value.
  • Anonymous8568 May 23, 2024
@ Anonymous9255 Have you tested it to predict illness one day in advance
  • Anonymous9255 May 23, 2024
@ Anonymous8568 This varies from person to person. Some people may be obviously unwell before this value becomes lower. Some people may not show much, and the HRV changes drastically.
  • Anonymous8568 May 23, 2024
@ Anonymous9255 Hmmmm, it is indeed possible. They all monitor the change of heartbeat interval. When it is easy, the interval will continue to change and be relatively slow. When the pressure is high, the intervals tend to be consistent and compact.

@ Anonymous9255 But I just asked my friend of apple watch that the maximum granularity is only at the hourly level, and it is sampled every few hours, one minute at a time. This is difficult to monitor, basically hard to see, unlike the picture above Garmin, which is all at the minute level

@ Anonymous8568 apple watch is a small computer device, which is highly intelligent and consumes too much power. Unless it is in continuous training, the heart rate will not be measured so frequently, and the power will not be resistant.

I would like to ask the poster, since you exercise in the morning, it means that you must go to bed early. What time do you go to bed and get up to exercise?

If Apple Watch is used as the benchmark of smart watches, Garmin is not a smart watch, it is a GPU fitness watch. Garmin is better than Apple Watch in professional sports, more accurate and has more detailed data. And because it is not a smart watch and doesn't have so many tasks to handle, it is relatively energy-saving and often lasts for more than a week on a single charge. If you are a fitness, sports, outdoor fan and don't care so much about intelligence, then just choose Garmin. Apple Watch is a standard smart watch with a full-featured operating system, third-party apps that can be developed and downloaded, and can be linked to Apple devices and smart homes, and has a complete ecosystem. It can track health status relatively well, and can also be used as a sports watch at the door. It covers a wide range and accepts more people. Also because the Apple Watch has many multiplexing tasks, its power consumption will be greater and its battery life will be average. The Apple Watch Ultra can last almost one and a half to two days on a full charge. I wear it all the time except for bathing and brushing my teeth. I only take a bath for about twenty minutes every day (my body is very hot after taking a shower, so I don't put it on immediately) and brush my teeth and face for ten minutes to charge it. I am completely worried about having no electricity every day. I charged it to 94% at 7:44 this morning, and now I still have 85% electricity at 14:52. Of course I didn't go outdoors, so I was perfectly okay with that duration. I haven't touched Huawei's watch before, so I don't know.

I would like to ask my brother, does Garmin have NFC function, brush access control or something

@ Anonymous6890 I usually go to bed around 10 o'clock and get up after 5 o'clock. If I don't bring my baby, I can make my own arrangements between 6 and 7 o'clock in the morning. Exercise + breakfast + bathing is enough @ Anonymous10130 I haven't used this aspect

@ Poster How is it used to urge ultra1? Is it heavier than Huawei
  • Poster Jun 28, 2024
@ Anonymous10131 There is not much difference in weight and body sensation. When viewed from the side, the ultra is obviously thicker. Huawei's app is really unbearable. When you open it, it looks like dog skin plaster, and you can't get around that app if you want a message reminder

    Dude, how's it going now?
  • Poster Sep 23, 2024
@ Anonymous9478 just sold Huawei GT3Pro, because I really feel that Huawei Sports Health is not easy to use (there are too many advertisements and I can't stand it). It'S okay to use AWU at present, but I may switch back to S series after a while

Except for the Apple Watch, are the notifications of other watches and the iPhone shared? The iPhone notifications all ring and then pushed to the watch. Is it possible that the notifications are only on the watch, the iPhone is silent, and the battery life of the Apple Watch is really dissuasive, if I can tie the access control, I can still bear it, it's nothing

Does the Garmin watch have a function similar to the sports/activity ring of the apple watch, which can remind me to exercise and increase the amount of activity?
  • Poster Oct 16, 2024
@ Anonymous12344 There is no ring, and there is a sedentary reminder. After setting the training plan, there will also be a reminder in the course on the same day, and there will be a reminder of recovery time after exercise. Unlike Apple, which will constantly ask you to improve your goal without thinking, it doesn't consider rest and recovery at all.
